the great hall is entered via two heavy oak doors which open to a vast long room lined with stain glass windows and topped with a ceiling that displays the current weather outside. this never fails to draw an impressed gasp from the lips of first years when they arrive at the school in september. students are sat according to house on long tables and up front overseeing them is the high table designed to sit the entire hogwarts staff.
